Hi-de-hi! The Woods brought their high octane brand of rock n roll to the good folks at Sand Bay Holiday Village last Wednesday as part of the 'Flashback through the Decades' theme week. This was without doubt the biggest gig we've done and further proof that we can play to any crowd in any situation.
We played for 90 mins as support act for the great 50s band the Tornados (biggest hit: Telstar). This was a taste of what it's like on the professional entertainment (or 'oldies') circuit. We were paid hansomely, got a three course meal, extensive soundcheck (with a top sound guy - cheers Steve, you were brilliant) and even a big MC introduction!
Well, to get right to it, it went really well. The crowd (must have been at least 300) were very responsive and had a lot of energy, especially as the majority were in their 70s! The dance floor was in full use for at least 75% of the set and there's no better indicator of success in a Holiday Park than that!
A great time had by all, then. Oh, and the Tornados were great to meet and work with - put on a great show, too.
One final note - our night was voted the best of the 'Flashback through the Decades' series! Job done ;D
